SKF advanced wheel end components center stage at HDAW 2022

Last week, SKF showed off its premier line of wheel-end components at HDAW 2022. This year's event, dubbed the largest gathering of independent heavy-duty aftermarket manufacturers in North America, was a colossal showing of the industry's greatest innovators and leaders. Held between January 24 to 27 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, SKF provided attendees with a glimpse into its innovative product portfolio, designed to optimize truck, bus, and trailer wheel-end performance.
Among the products on display throughout the event was SKF’s advanced line of fully loaded trailer hubs, featuring an award-winning design to reduce friction for improved rolling efficiency and higher capacity to accommodate today’s operating temperatures. Also highlighted was SKF’s Scotseal X-Treme seal, available in various dimensions for truck, bus, and trailer wheel ends for driven and non-driven axles. Lastly, also featured in the SKF booth was the SKF Aluminum Hubcaps, containing the patent-pending TF center-fill plug, which has an oil shield and concealed vent design. This allows the wheel end to vent without clogging, while the exterior of the hubcap remains clean with reduced oil seepage while venting.
While onsite, SKF also provided distributors with the opportunity to demo its recently launched TraX Wheel End Monitor (WEM), a sensor unit installed at the outboard side of heavy-duty vehicle wheel rims to intelligently monitor vibrations and temperature to detect potential issues such as impending bearing failures. This will help fleet operators achieve greater efficiency and ultimately reduce downtime due to maintenance by providing them with notifications in near real-time via wireless communication in advance of potential wheel-end conditions that could comprise safety and performance.
SKF remains committed to providing unparalleled products in the bearing industry while retaining its position as a leader in innovation and quality. SKF’s portfolio not only helps reduce maintenance costs and breakdowns but also reinforces customer confidence. This year's event was another fantastic opportunity to connect with industry peers, suppliers, and customers alike. We offer a sincere thanks to everyone who partook in this year's event and looks forward to seeing you next year!
